The goal of Sunday School is to contribute to the physical, social and spiritual development of children who attend Sunday School. It has three specific objectives to fulfil this goal. The first objective is to facilitate children to acquire basic knowledge about God, Jesus Christ and salvation. The second objective is to help in leading and supporting the children to decide to accept Jesus Christ as their saviour as they attend Sunday School and participate in various activities. The third objective is to equip children with knowledge and skills to use in spreading the gospel and contributing to the welfare of society.
Sunday School welcomes and teaches children from different nations and backgrounds. Importantly, the Sunday School Ministry seeks to fulfil the words of Jesus Christ, who told His disciples not to hinder but “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the Kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, ‘Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein” (Luke 18: 16-17). The Sunday School Ministry sees children as a great treasure. They are precious to God and society. They are an asset not just for tomorrow but also for today. Thus, the Sunday School Ministry contributes to the total development of children, supporting the key role that parents play in raising and nurturing children.
Sunday School provides classes for children who are 4 to 13 years old. In addition, it has a crèche for babies. Lessons are offered in both English and French. Each class has a team of teachers, coordinated by a head teacher in the chapel every Sunday. Children are given snacks before classes start. Members from “Torrents of Life” (the Youth Ministry for CFTN) assist in classes and serving snacks to the children. Sunday School children and teachers participate in the main events of CFTN such as Christmas and anniversary celebrations.
Sunday School welcomes Church members who are interested in sharing their knowledge and passion for the Lord through this ministry.
